ACERBIS ADV TYPE B HANDGUARDS FOR HONDA CRF300L

The Honda CRF300L is equally suited to paved roads, gravel and trails, and Acerbis ADV Type B handguards are designed for that same mixed-use environment. Their closed construction combines a strong aluminium backbone around the control levers with a large plastic shield in front of the rider’s hands.

Compared with a simple open deflector, the wrap-around system provides structural protection around the controls while also helping reduce exposure to wind, branches, stones, mud and other debris.

STRONG 35 MM ANTICORODAL C-SECTION

The structural core is a 35 mm ANTICORODAL aluminium C-section.

The 35 mm specification describes the C-section profile rather than the diameter of a round bar. This aluminium structure runs around the lever area and forms the primary mechanical protection of the handguard.

It helps protect:

• surrounding control assemblies

• exposed handlebar area

A closed handguard provides substantially more structural support than a plastic shield alone, although no handguard can guarantee that motorcycle components will remain undamaged in every crash or heavy impact.

A sizeable plastic cover is mounted to the aluminium backbone to provide additional coverage directly in front of the hands.

It helps deflect:

The upper area of the shield incorporates extensions that increase the protected surface.

FLEXIBLE LOWER AREA FOR ACTIVE RIDING

CRF300L riders frequently spend time standing on the footpegs, particularly once the terrain becomes rougher.

As the rider moves forward and around the motorcycle, the knee can approach the handguard area. Acerbis therefore uses a more flexible lower section of the plastic shield, designed to yield more readily during accidental knee contact than a completely rigid edge.

PROTECTION AROUND THE CONTROL ASSEMBLIES

Acerbis does not focus solely on the ends of the brake and clutch levers. The handguard design also provides coverage around the master-cylinder and control assemblies.

This can be valuable when riding through vegetation or during a fall where the end of the handlebar may come into contact with the ground or an obstacle.

The large shield also creates an additional barrier between the rider’s hand and the surrounding environment on narrow trails.

SIMPLIFIED ASSEMBLY

Acerbis describes the ADV construction as offering simplified assembly compared with the Endurance handguard range, with greater use of standardised components.

After installation, always check:

• free throttle return

• clearance from hoses and wiring

• full steering movement from lock to lock

• clearance from any additional motorcycle equipment
