Orange/black Acerbis ADV Type I handguards are designed for the CFMOTO 450 MT 2024–2025, combining lever protection with increased hand coverage for touring and off-road riding. A closed 35 mm ANTICORODAL aluminium C-section carries mechanical loads, while the large plastic covers and upper extensions deflect airflow, rain and debris. The flexible lower zone absorbs accidental knee contact when riding in a standing position.

The CFMOTO 450 MT is designed to move comfortably between paved roads, gravel and off-road terrain, where the rider’s hands and controls are increasingly exposed to wind, debris and contact with obstacles. Acerbis ADV Type Iaddresses this with a closed aluminium structure around the levers rather than relying on a simple plastic deflector.
A large plastic shield adds substantial hand coverage, making the system suitable for everyday riding, long Adventure trips and routes that continue beyond the tarmac.
35 MM ANTICORODAL C-SECTION
The structural backbone is a 35 mm ANTICORODAL aluminium C-section.
The 35 mm dimension refers to the C-section profile, not the diameter of a round aluminium bar. This structure runs around the control area and carries much of the mechanical load when the handguard contacts an obstacle.
It helps protect:
brake lever
clutch lever
master-cylinder and control area
exposed handlebar ends
rider’s hands from branches and obstacles
No handguard can guarantee that a lever or other motorcycle component will remain undamaged in every crash. However, the closed aluminium backbone provides considerably more structural protection than an open plastic shield alone.
LARGE HAND SHIELD
The aluminium structure is complemented by a sizeable plastic cover designed to increase protection directly in front of the hands.
It helps deflect:
airflow
mud
water spray
small stones
dust
branches and vegetation
This is useful off-road but also during longer road journeys, where the larger shield reduces direct airflow against the rider’s hands.
The handguards are not insulated winter covers and do not replace suitable cold-weather gloves or heated grips.
UPPER EXTENSIONS FOR ADDITIONAL COVERAGE
The upper part of the shield incorporates extensions that increase its protective area.
They provide additional coverage from:
airflow
dust
small flying debris
The larger surface is particularly useful when travelling, riding dusty tracks or following other motorcycles on gravel roads.
FLEXIBLE LOWER AREA
The lower part of the plastic cover is deliberately more flexible to accommodate accidental knee contact.
During active standing riding, the rider moves forward and around the motorcycle and a knee can approach the handguard area. The flexible lower zone is designed to yield more readily than a completely rigid plastic edge.
This is particularly useful during:
standing riding
climbs
descents
rough terrain
active body positioning
MODEL-SPECIFIC FOR CFMOTO 450 MT
ADV Type I uses a model-specific mounting arrangement for the CFMOTO 450 MT.
Current Acerbis fitment data lists:
CFMOTO 450 MT 2024
CFMOTO 450 MT 2025
CFMOTO 450 MT 2026
The dedicated mounting system avoids many of the compromises associated with completely universal handguard installations.
If the motorcycle is fitted with aftermarket handlebars, levers or modified controls, compatibility should be checked individually.
More options are available in the MEFO handguard range.
FROM TOURING TO OFF-ROAD
ADV Type I is primarily designed for Adventure riding and light off-road use.
On the CFMOTO 450 MT it is suitable for:
everyday road riding
long-distance touring
Adventure travel
gravel roads
forest and unpaved tracks
light off-road riding
more technical routes away from tarmac
Acerbis also states that the structural strength of the design is sufficient for hard enduro, cross-country and maxi-enduro applications.
PROTECTION AROUND THE CONTROLS
The design does not focus solely on the tips of the brake and clutch levers.
ADV Type I also provides coverage around the master-cylinder and control assemblies, helping protect a larger area of the handlebar when riding through vegetation or during contact with the ground.
The wide plastic shield additionally creates a barrier between the rider’s hand and the surrounding environment.
SIMPLIFIED ASSEMBLY COMPARED WITH ENDURANCE
Acerbis describes the ADV system as offering simplified assembly compared with its Endurance handguards. It uses a greater number of standardised components while retaining a motorcycle-specific mounting kit.
After installation, always verify:
unrestricted brake-lever travel
unrestricted clutch-lever travel
free throttle return
clearance from hoses and wiring
full steering movement from lock to lock
clearance from the windscreen and other accessories
The handguards must never interfere with safe motorcycle operation.
MATERIAL COMPOSITION
Acerbis specifies:
67% aluminium
10% steel
23% plastic
Aluminium forms the main structural backbone, steel is used in structural and mounting elements, and plastic forms the large hand shield.
The handguards are made in Italy and supplied as a set for both sides of the handlebar.

PROTECTION THAT MATCHES THE 450 MT
Acerbis ADV Type I adds protection exactly where an Adventure motorcycle needs it. The aluminium wrap-around backbone protects the control area, while the large plastic shield increases hand coverage from wind, stones, mud and vegetation.
For CFMOTO 450 MT riders combining long road sections with unpaved routes, it provides a more substantial solution than a basic open plastic deflector.
