What to do after motocross training
What to do after motocross training | Checklist | MEFOThe training session is over. Now all it takes is a few minutes to prepare the bike and your gear for the next ride. Regular maintenance extends the service life of parts and often reveals minor faults before they develop into a bigger problem.
Bike
- wash the bike
Wash the bike as soon as possible after returning. Dried mud is much harder to remove, and washing also makes it easier to spot cracks or damaged parts. - check the plastics
After a fall or contact with stones, check for cracks or loose mounts. - chain
Clean and lubricate the chain, then check that it is correctly tensioned. Also inspect the rear sprocket and front sprocket. - air filter
After a dusty training session, wash the filter, let it dry thoroughly and re-oil it. If you have a second filter ready, you can fit it immediately and prepare the other one for next time. - MEFO Mousse
Do you use MEFO Mousse? Check its condition regularly. When changing or inspecting the tyre, clean the mousse and reapply mounting gel. It cannot work properly inside a dirty tyre, and correct maintenance significantly extends its service life. - brakes
Check how much material remains on the brake pads and whether the discs are damaged. - tyres
Check the tread blocks, sidewalls and any damage caused during the ride. - check bolt tightness
Check the handlebars, footpegs, levers, discs, plastics and exhaust. Vibrations can loosen even properly tightened fasteners. - fluids
Check the engine oil, coolant and brake fluid.
Rider gear
- wash the jersey
- wash the trousers
- clean the boots
Let them dry thoroughly so they are ready for the next training session. - clean the goggles
Remove mud and dust, inspect the lens and replace the Tear-Off or Roll-Off film if necessary. - clean the helmet
Remove the inner padding and hand-wash it according to the manufacturer’s instructions. If you do not want to remove the padding every time, use a cleaning spray designed for motorcycle helmets. - clean the protective gear
Mud, dust and sweat also remain on protective gear. Simply rinse it with water or wipe it with a damp cloth and let it dry thoroughly. Regular maintenance extends its service life and makes it more comfortable to wear at the next training session.
Equipment box
- refill the petrol can
- top up premix oil (2T)
- put the tools back in place
- restock cable ties and small supplies
- prepare a clean air filter
