The Acerbis Soft Rush are close-fitting protective shorts for motocross, enduro, mountain biking and other off-road activities. Multi-layer viscoelastic inserts, EVA panels and biofoam protect the thighs, hips and coccyx area, while padded seat sections improve riding comfort. Breathable quick-drying fabric maintains freedom of movement, and silicone leg grippers help prevent the shorts from riding up. This unisex model is certified to EN 17092-6:2020. Show all
Protective undershorts for motocross, enduro and mountain biking
The Acerbis Soft Rush are close-fitting protective undershorts designed for motocross, enduro, mountain biking and other off-road activities. Integrated protective and cushioning zones cover the thighs, hips and coccyx, while shaped padding in the seating area helps improve comfort over rough terrain.
The construction combines three layers of viscoelastic material, EVA protective panels, soft biofoam and flexible fabric designed to resist tearing and wear. Each protective zone is positioned to cover an exposed part of the lower body while maintaining movement through the hips and legs.
The unisex cut is suitable for both women and men. The shorts are worn as a close-fitting base layer underneath motocross, enduro or cycling trousers.
Multi-layer upper-thigh protection
Three layers of viscoelastic material cover the upper thighs and part of the gluteal area. During normal movement, the soft construction follows the body and helps cushion contact with the motorcycle, bicycle or surrounding terrain.
The viscoelastic layers are mounted on flexible mesh designed for resistance to tearing and regular wear. Its elasticity allows the protective areas to follow the thighs when riding seated, standing on the footpegs, pedalling or rapidly shifting body weight.
This multi-layer construction combines flexibility, a low profile and the ability to distribute force over a wider area without surrounding the thighs with a large rigid shell.
EVA coccyx protection
An EVA panel positioned at the rear covers the coccyx area. It helps cushion direct contact during a backward fall or an impact against the saddle, frame or surrounding terrain.
EVA is a lightweight foam material used for impact cushioning and pressure distribution. The panel is shaped to cover the exposed area without unnecessarily interfering with forward lean or seated movement.
The manufacturer does not specify separate Level 1 or Level 2 certification for the coccyx panel.
Side and front thigh panels
Additional EVA panels cover the lower side and front sections of the thighs. They extend protection around areas that may come into contact with the motorcycle, bicycle frame, branches, stones or track surface.
The panels have a low-profile shape and are integrated directly into the shorts, keeping them close to the body without creating bulky outer sections or prominent rigid edges.
These EVA components are supplementary protective zones without a separately stated EN 1621 protection rating.
Soft hip padding
Biofoam padding covers the upper outer hip area. The flexible material extends coverage around the sides of the body and helps reduce pressure during contact with the motorcycle or a sideways fall.
Because the foam follows body movement, it does not form a rigid connection between the torso and thighs. The rider can therefore continue to move through the hips when standing, cornering or pedalling.
The biofoam padding is not listed by the manufacturer as a separately certified hip protector.
Padding for the seating area
High-density inserts are positioned around the seating area to distribute pressure where the body contacts the saddle. Their position corresponds to the ischial region, which can experience significant loading during longer rides.
The padding is particularly useful for mountain biking and longer connecting sections but can also improve comfort during motocross and enduro. It helps reduce concentrated pressure and vibration transmitted through the saddle.
This insert complements comfort and cushioning but does not replace a correctly selected and adjusted saddle.
Flexible three-layer construction
The textile section uses a three-layer design that combines stretch, durability and low weight. The individual layers are distributed according to the loading of each area, allowing the shorts to remain flexible where movement is required.
A close fit helps keep the protective sections correctly positioned and limits fabric gathering underneath outer riding trousers.
The selected size should fit close to the body without restricting circulation, hip movement or natural leg flexion.
Quick-drying and breathable fabric
The textile helps move moisture away from the body and dries more quickly after intensive riding or washing. Its breathable structure encourages air exchange in the areas not covered by protective inserts.
The fabric cannot prevent perspiration, but it helps reduce prolonged dampness and heat accumulation underneath outer trousers.
After use, the shorts should be allowed to dry in open air rather than being left inside a damp equipment bag.
Elastic thigh bands with silicone inserts
Elastic bands around the lower legs include silicone inserts that help keep the shorts positioned on the thighs. They limit the tendency of the legs to ride upwards during riding, walking or pedalling.
The silicone components improve grip against the skin or a thin functional base layer, supporting stable positioning during repeated leg movement.
The bands should not be so tight that they cause numbness, pressure marks or restricted circulation.
Freedom of movement
There are no rigid plastic connections between the individual protective areas. The thighs, hips and seating section can therefore move according to the rider’s position.
The flexible construction supports transitions between seated and standing riding, movement through corners, active motorcycle control and pedalling during mountain biking.
Its low-profile design allows the shorts to be worn underneath conventional motocross, enduro and cycling trousers.
Protective-garment certification
The current official manufacturer specification lists certification to EN 17092-6:2020. This standard relates to protective garments for motorcyclists intended to be worn together with separate or integrated impact protection.
This does not mean that every foam panel has its own Level 1 or Level 2 certification. The manufacturer does not specify a separate protection level for the coccyx EVA panel, thigh panels or biofoam hip padding.
Further explanations of the different standards are available in the protector-certification guide on MEFO.cz.
Unisex design
The Acerbis Soft Rush use a unisex cut suitable for women and men. Stretch materials adapt to different body proportions, but correct sizing remains essential for keeping the protective components in position.
When trying them on, check that the coccyx panel remains centred, the side padding covers the hip area and the thigh inserts do not move significantly during bending and riding movements.
Recommended use
The protective undershorts are suitable for:
motocross,
enduro,
other off-road motorcycle disciplines,
mountain biking,
bike parks,
training and recreational riding on rough terrain.
They provide targeted cushioning and impact protection. They are not standalone outer motorcycle trousers and do not provide complete abrasion protection during a prolonged slide on asphalt.
Available sizes
The model is available in:
S,
M,
L,
XL,
XXL.
A size that is too loose may allow the protective zones to move. Shorts that are too tight may restrict movement, create excessive pressure around the seating area or cause the fabric to gather.
Care and inspection
Cleaning should follow the care symbols on the product label. Unless permitted by the manufacturer, the shorts should not be exposed to high temperatures, aggressive cleaning products or direct heat sources.
After a significant fall, inspect all protective areas, seams and elastic sections. Shorts with cracked, torn or permanently deformed inserts should no longer be used.
