Lightweight protective vest for off-road, adventure and MTB
The Acerbis Density Vest is an upper-body protector designed for motocross, enduro, rally, adventure, Gravity MTB and E-MTB. It protects the chest, back, shoulders and elbows while maintaining a low-profile construction that follows the rider’s movement.
The vest combines certified Level 1 protectors with a structure made using specialised yarn-knitting technology. This creates a close-fitting protective layer without requiring a bulky mesh jacket or extensive rigid connecting components.

Chest, back, shoulder and elbow protection
The Density Vest provides integrated protection for the main vulnerable areas of the upper body. Protectors cover the chest, back, shoulders and elbows, reducing the need to put on each protective component separately.
The chest and back sections use firmer protective inserts that help distribute direct impact energy. The shoulder and elbow protectors are positioned inside stretch sleeves that keep them close to the body when the correct size is worn.
All protected areas meet Level 1 requirements.
Knitted construction following the body
The main structure is made from flexible fabric produced using specialised yarn-knitting technology. It follows the shape of the torso and arms and moves together with the rider when leaning forward, rotating the upper body or controlling the handlebars.
The close fit helps stabilise the protectors without relying on numerous separate straps. The inserts therefore remain correctly positioned when riding seated, standing on the footpegs or moving actively through technical terrain.
Its low-profile design allows the vest to be worn underneath a motocross jersey or suitable off-road jacket.
Ventilation zones in high-heat areas
The knitted structure contains zones with different levels of density according to the requirements of each part of the body. More open sections promote airflow around the chest, back, underarms and arms, while firmer areas help keep the protectors correctly positioned.
Ventilation reduces heat build-up underneath a jersey during slow technical enduro riding, longer motocross sessions and warm-weather use. The vest also avoids a thick continuous textile layer that could retain unnecessary heat and moisture.
This makes the Density Vest suitable for physically demanding MTB disciplines where the rider generates additional body heat through active movement.
Compression areas supporting a stable fit
Selected parts of the knitted fabric provide a mild compression effect. This helps the vest follow the body and reduces unwanted protector movement during dynamic riding.
The compression zones are not distributed evenly across the entire garment. They are positioned where additional stability is required, while areas that need freedom of movement remain more flexible.
The correct size should fit closely without restricting breathing, arm movement or normal elbow flexion.
Freedom of movement during active riding
The flexible material supports natural movement of the shoulders, elbows and torso. The vest adapts to changing positions on a motorcycle or bicycle without rigid connections that could significantly restrict arm movement.
This is important when switching between seated and standing riding positions, shifting body weight through corners and controlling the handlebars in technical sections.
Its soft contact structure also reduces pressure from hard edges against the rider’s body and supports comfort during extended use.
Durable textile construction
The fabric, seams and structural closures are designed with resistance to tearing and abrasion during off-road use in mind. The vest can therefore be worn as a standalone protective layer for off-road and MTB activities or as a base underneath additional riding clothing.
For riding on public roads, it should be combined with motorcycle clothing suited to the conditions and required level of coverage. The Density Vest is primarily a protective garment focused on impact absorption and stable protector positioning.
SBS side zip
The vest fastens using a long SBS side zip. Positioning the zip away from the centre of the chest maintains a continuous front protective area and reduces pressure from the fastening across the middle of the body.
Opening the zip makes the vest easier to put on without pulling a tightly fitted garment over the head. The side closure also avoids interfering with the close positioning of the shoulder and elbow protectors.
