Lightweight D3O protective vest for off-road and adventure riding
The Acerbis Flux Air Vest is a lightweight protective vest designed for motocross, enduro, adventure, touring, mountain biking and other activities where torso protection is required without a bulky construction. It protects the chest and back using flexible D3O inserts that adapt to the body during normal movement and help absorb and distribute impact energy.
Its elastic mesh construction supports airflow and maintains freedom of movement when riding seated, standing on the footpegs or actively controlling the motorcycle. The low-profile design allows the vest to be worn underneath a jersey or suitable motorcycle jacket, depending on the rider’s equipment.

Flexible D3O protection
Both the chest and back sections use D3O protective inserts. The material remains soft and flexible during normal movement, allowing it to follow the shape of the rider’s body without unnecessarily restricting forward lean, torso rotation or changes in riding position.
During an impact, the material responds by increasing its resistance and helps absorb the transferred energy. This allows the vest to combine the comfort of soft protectors with certified protection for the main areas of the torso.
The flexible construction also reduces the pressure from rigid edges that can occur with conventional protectors made from large plastic panels.
Level 2 back protector
The back insert complies with EN 1621-2:2014, Level 2. It covers a substantial area of the back and helps protect the spinal region during falls and direct impacts.
Level 2 is the higher of the two basic protection levels defined by this standard. During certification testing, a Level 2 back protector transmits less impact energy than a Level 1 protector.
The anatomically shaped insert follows the back, while the flexibility of D3O allows it to adapt to upper-body movement while riding.
Level 1 chest protector
The front of the vest contains a chest protector certified to EN 1621-3:2018, Level 1. It helps protect against impacts with the handlebars, stones thrown by other motorcycles and contact with the surrounding terrain.
The low-profile chest insert leaves room for shoulder and arm movement. The vest therefore avoids the bulk of a rigid external shell and can be combined more comfortably with additional riding layers.
Mesh construction supporting continuous ventilation
The main structure is made from highly breathable elastic mesh. Its open construction limits the amount of solid fabric around the torso and allows air to circulate between the rider’s body, the vest and the jersey or jacket.
Ventilation helps reduce heat build-up during slow technical enduro riding, long climbs, motocross training and warm-weather touring. The stretch mesh also follows the body and helps stabilise the protective inserts.
The Flux Air Vest is particularly suitable for riders who prefer soft, lightweight and ventilated protection over traditional armour with extensive rigid plastic panels.
Freedom of movement while riding
The ergonomic fit supports natural movement of the shoulders, arms and torso. The vest adapts to a forward riding position, upper-body rotation and weight transfer through off-road terrain.
Its sleeveless construction leaves the area around the arms unrestricted. This also makes the vest suitable for adventure and touring use, where comfortable layering underneath a motorcycle jacket can be important.
The Flux Air Vest protects the chest and back. Shoulder and elbow protectors are not included and must be added separately when required.
SBS side zip for convenient dressing
The vest fastens with a long SBS side zip. Positioning the zip away from the centre of the chest maintains a continuous front protective area and makes the vest easier to put on without pulling a tightly fitted opening over the head.
Once opened, the vest can be positioned comfortably, the protective inserts aligned with the body and the side closed along its full length.
Adjustable fit
Elastic adjustment straps connect the chest and back sections. They allow the vest circumference to be adapted to the rider’s body and help keep both protectors close to the protected areas.
Selecting the correct size and adjustment is important for stable positioning. The chest protector should cover the central chest area, while the back insert should follow the spine without moving excessively during riding.
The vest should fit closely without restricting breathing or normal torso movement.
Removable protectors and easier care
Both D3O inserts can be removed from the vest. This makes the textile section easier to maintain and allows it to be washed separately from the protective components.
All protectors should be removed before washing, and the care instructions on the product label should be followed. The inserts should not be washed together with the vest or exposed to a direct source of high heat.
The textile section and protective inserts must be completely dry before the vest is reassembled.
Class C protective garment
The vest complies with EN 17092-6:2020 as a Class C garment. This classification relates to specialised motorcycle protective clothing, its construction and its ability to keep certified impact protectors correctly positioned.
Class C is not the same as Level 1 or Level 2. The impact-protection levels of the individual inserts are assessed separately under the relevant EN 1621 standards.
Further information is available in the protector certification overview.
