Lightweight chest and back protection for motocross and enduro

The Acerbis P035 Race is a chest and back protector designed for motocross, enduro, downhill mountain biking and other forms of off-road riding. It combines rigid front protection with flexible D3O protective elements that follow the rider’s movement and help absorb impact energy.

Its low-profile construction reduces unnecessary bulk underneath the jersey and maintains freedom of movement when riding seated, standing on the footpegs or actively controlling the motorcycle. Both the chest and back sections meet Level 2 protection requirements.

Rigid front protection

The chest is covered by rigid front plates that create a barrier against direct impacts, flying stones and contact with the motorcycle or surrounding terrain. Their segmented shape follows the chest area and helps distribute impact force across a larger surface.

The rigid plates are combined with softer protective layers on the side facing the rider’s body. These separate the hard sections from the chest and contribute to a more comfortable fit during longer rides.

The chest protector complies with EN 1621-3:2018, Level 2.

Flexible D3O back protection

The back section uses soft D3O protective material. It remains flexible during normal movement, follows the shape of the rider’s back and reduces restriction when leaning forward, rotating the torso or changing position on the motorcycle.

During an impact, the material increases its resistance and helps absorb and distribute the force. It therefore combines the comfort of a soft protector with certified back protection.

The back protector complies with EN 1621-2:2014, Level 2.

Level 2 protection without a bulky construction

The P035 Race is intended for riders who need certified chest and back protection without integrated shoulder and elbow guards. The limited number of rigid components helps reduce bulk and supports upper-body movement.

It can be worn on its own or combined with the compatible Acerbis P035 protective jacket, which adds shoulder and elbow protection.

This modular approach allows the protective setup to be adapted to the riding discipline, weather and required level of body coverage.

Large ventilated areas

The chest and back sections contain extensive perforated zones that support airflow around the body. Open mesh areas also reduce the amount of fabric in which heat and moisture can accumulate during physically demanding riding.

The ventilation is particularly useful during longer motocross sessions, slower technical enduro and warm-weather use. The construction supports comfort without reducing chest and back coverage.

Natural movement while riding

Flexible contact sections adapt to the torso and move together with the rider. The low-profile design leaves room for natural shoulder and arm movement and makes it easier to switch between seated and standing riding positions.

The anatomical arrangement of the protective sections helps maintain chest and back coverage when leaning forward or shifting body weight through corners. Depending on the riding equipment, the protector can be worn underneath or over a motocross jersey.

Adjustable fit

The height and position of the armour can be adapted using hook-and-loop shoulder straps. Side straps with buckles adjust the circumference around the torso and bring the front and rear sections closer to the rider’s body.

Independent shoulder and side adjustment allows the protector to accommodate different body shapes and clothing layers. Correctly adjusted armour should remain stable during movement without restricting breathing or torso movement.

Quick-release side buckles also make the protector easier to put on and remove without changing the selected strap length after every ride.

Neck-brace compatibility

The upper section is designed for use with modern neck braces. Its low profile around the shoulders reduces interference between the individual pieces of protective equipment.

The helmet, neck brace and body protector should be tried on together before riding. The individual components should not push against one another or restrict normal head movement.
