Acerbis Airstrike-X – lightweight fibreglass helmet for motocross and enduro
The Acerbis Airstrike-X is a lightweight off-road helmet designed for motocross, enduro, cross-country and other demanding off-road disciplines. Its fibreglass shell combines low weight with a strong composite construction, while the helmet complies with the current ECE 22.06 motorcycle helmet standard.
The Airstrike-X is intended for riders looking for a competition-focused helmet with effective ventilation, a wide field of view and comfort during long training sessions and races. Two outer shell sizes help optimise the overall dimensions of the helmet for different head sizes and reduce unnecessary bulk.
The helmet weighs approximately 1200 ± 50 g, uses a double D-ring retention system and features QRS emergency-release cheek pads.
Explore the complete range of Acerbis helmets.
Fibreglass outer shell
The Airstrike-X is built around a fibreglass composite shell. Fibreglass allows a strong yet relatively lightweight structure suitable for demanding off-road use.
The outer shell works together with the internal energy-absorbing structure to help distribute impact loads and reduce the energy transmitted towards the rider’s head.
Its design also reflects the practical demands of motocross and enduro, including low weight, ventilation, stability and sufficient space for off-road goggles.
Two outer shell sizes
The Airstrike-X uses two different outer shell sizes.
This allows the physical dimensions of the helmet to be better matched to individual head sizes instead of using one oversized shell across the complete range.
The result is more balanced proportions, improved weight distribution and a more compact overall profile.
The helmet is available from XS to XXL.
Dual outer and inner shell sizing
In addition to two outer shell sizes, the Airstrike-X uses two internal shell configurations.
This allows the internal volume and energy-absorbing structure to be matched more closely to the various helmet sizes.
The outer composite shell and inner energy-absorbing structure work together as one protective system, with each component performing a different role during an impact.
ECE 22.06 approval
The Acerbis Airstrike-X complies with ECE 22.06, the current European motorcycle helmet homologation standard.
ECE 22.06 expands the test programme compared with the previous generation of the regulation and includes a wider range of impact points and test scenarios.
Homologation confirms that the helmet design has passed the required tests for approved motorcycle use.
Further information is available in our motorcycle helmet homologation guide.
Low weight – approximately 1200 ± 50 g
One of the key characteristics of the Airstrike-X is its approximate weight of 1200 ± 50 g.
Low helmet weight is particularly valuable during long motocross or enduro sessions. The rider constantly moves the head to follow the track, terrain and surrounding riders, so additional mass can contribute to neck fatigue over time.
A lighter helmet also reduces the load on the neck during rapid acceleration, braking and quick head movements.
Exact weight can vary according to helmet size and configuration.
4 intake / 6 exhaust ventilation system
The Airstrike-X uses four air intakes and six exhaust vents.
Front openings allow fresh air into the helmet, while the rear exhaust system helps release accumulated heat and moisture.
The system is particularly important during physically demanding motocross and enduro riding, where riders can generate considerable body heat even at relatively low speeds.
Ventilation cannot prevent perspiration, but it helps maintain airflow through the helmet.
Removable ventilation components
Selected ventilation parts can be removed to make cleaning easier after riding in mud, sand or dust.
Off-road helmets are regularly exposed to debris, and ventilation openings can gradually become clogged.
Removable components allow more thorough cleaning and help maintain effective airflow.
Wide goggle opening
The front opening is designed to provide a broad field of view and sufficient space for modern motocross goggles.
This is particularly useful with larger goggle frames and Roll-Off systems.
A correct helmet-and-goggle combination should provide:
good peripheral vision,
correct frame positioning,
even foam contact around the face,
sufficient strap space,
compatibility with Roll-Off or tear-off systems.
Compatible options are available in the Acerbis motocross goggles range.
Off-road peak design
The peak is designed as an integral part of the helmet’s off-road construction.
It helps reduce direct sunlight and provides additional shielding from mud and debris thrown by riders ahead.
Always check that the peak and all related mounting components are secure and undamaged before riding.
Peak extension included
A peak extension is included with the helmet accessories.
This increases the available coverage according to rider preference and riding conditions.
It can be particularly useful in strong sunlight or conditions with significant mud and debris.
Additional components are available in the helmet peak and accessories range.
Hypoallergenic, breathable and washable lining
The interior is designed for intensive sporting use.
The lining is:
hypoallergenic,
breathable,
removable,
washable.
A removable washable interior is particularly useful in motocross and enduro, where perspiration, dust and mud naturally accumulate in the textile components.
Always follow the manufacturer’s care instructions when cleaning the lining.
QRS emergency cheek-pad release
The Airstrike-X uses a Quick Release System for the cheek pads.
This allows the cheek pads to be removed quickly when necessary before the helmet itself is removed.
In an emergency, removing the cheek pads creates additional space around the rider’s face and can make helmet removal easier for trained responders.
The QRS system does not replace proper emergency procedures.
Double D-ring fastening
The helmet uses a traditional double D-ring retention system.
This type of fastening is widely used in motorcycle competition because of its simple construction and precise adjustment.
Before every ride, the strap must be correctly threaded through both rings and tightened securely.
Compatible with modern neck braces
The lower profile of the helmet is designed for use with modern neck protection systems.
Correct compatibility between helmet and neck brace is particularly important for serious off-road and competition riding.
Always check that the combination allows the required range of head movement without unwanted interference.
Action camera mount
The accessory kit includes an action-camera mounting solution.
Any camera must be installed only in a position and manner intended by the helmet manufacturer.
Never drill additional holes into the shell or modify its structure.
Included accessories
The helmet includes an accessory kit with equipment intended for adjustment and use.
The set includes:
action-camera mount,
peak extension,
tools,
spare screws,
related mounting accessories.
Choosing the correct size
Correct helmet sizing is essential.
The helmet should fit firmly around the entire head without creating significant painful pressure points. A new interior will settle slightly during use, so a new helmet should not already feel loose.
When trying it on:
measure your head circumference,
position the helmet correctly,
secure the chin strap,
try rotating the helmet,
check pressure around the forehead and temples,
test it with your motocross goggles.
A helmet that moves independently of the skin and scalp is likely too large.
Pre-ride inspection
Before every ride, check:
the shell,
peak and mountings,
ventilation components,
chin strap,
D-rings,
inner lining,
cheek pads,
QRS components,
goggle compatibility,
overall helmet fit.
Do not use a helmet with a cracked shell, damaged strap or other significant structural damage.
After a significant impact
A motorcycle helmet is designed to absorb part of the energy generated during an impact.
The internal energy-absorbing material may be damaged even when the outer shell does not show an obvious crack.
After a severe crash or impact, the helmet should not automatically be considered safe simply because it looks undamaged externally.
Where there is any doubt, replacement is the safer option.
Care
Clean the outer shell with a soft cloth, water and mild cleaning products.
Avoid:
aggressive solvents,
petrol,
strong degreasers,
abrasive products,
unsuitable chemicals.
Wash the removable lining according to the manufacturer’s instructions and allow it to air dry naturally.
Do not dry the helmet on a radiator or leave it for extended periods in a very hot vehicle.
