The Acerbis Impact Evo Junior are articulated knee guards designed for junior motocross, enduro and other off-road riding. Rigid panels with EVA padding protect the knee, shin and lower thigh, while the double-pivot system follows the movement of the leg. Their pre-shaped asymmetric construction, removable padding and adjustable elastic straps support a comfortable and stable fit. The protectors are certified to EN 1621-1:2012 Level 1. Show all
Junior articulated knee guards for motocross and enduro
The Acerbis Impact Evo Junior are articulated knee guards designed for young motocross, enduro and off-road riders. Rigid plastic components combined with soft EVA padding cover the knee, shin and lower thigh. A double-pivot system allows the individual sections to follow leg movement and supports more natural knee flexion while riding.
The pre-shaped asymmetric construction is designed specifically around the right and left leg. When correctly adjusted, the protectors follow the rider’s anatomy and remain stable when seated, standing on the footpegs and moving around the motorcycle.
This model is intended for young riders who require broader coverage than a simple knee cup while maintaining the mobility needed for motorcycle control.
Knee, shin and lower-thigh coverage
The main protective components are made from rigid polypropylene. The front construction covers the knee joint, continues down the shin and extends above the knee over the lower thigh.
This extended coverage helps protect the leg against contact with stones, branches, footpegs, the motorcycle frame and the track surface. Rigid external panels also help distribute concentrated contact over a wider area.
EVA padding underneath the plastic sections separates the harder construction from the leg and helps cushion transmitted impact energy. Combining an external shell with a softer backing provides protection together with more comfortable contact.
The protectors do not cover the complete leg and cannot prevent every type of injury. They should be combined with suitable motocross boots, trousers and other protective equipment.
Double-pivot system
The side construction uses two pivoting joints. As the knee bends, the individual segments move in relation to one another and follow the changing angle between the thigh and lower leg.
This articulated design reduces the pressure that a long one-piece plastic shell could create above or below the knee during deeper flexion. Young riders can therefore sit, stand on the footpegs and shift body weight more naturally.
The double-pivot construction also helps keep the protective sections over the intended areas while the leg is moving. Correct operation depends on positioning the guards properly and adjusting all retaining straps.
The Acerbis Impact Evo Junior are articulated knee protectors, not rigid medical knee braces. They are not intended to mechanically limit the knee’s range of motion.
Pre-shaped asymmetric construction
The protectors are anatomically pre-shaped and distinguish between the right and left leg. Their asymmetric design follows the different shape of the inner and outer sides of the knee.
When correctly fitted, each guard should cover the front of the knee and shin without turning significantly to one side. The pivot points should sit approximately level with the knee joint so that the construction moves together with the leg.
Anatomical shaping supports a more stable fit and avoids unnecessary material in areas where coverage is not required.
Soft EVA padding
The internal construction includes EVA padding. This foam layer distributes pressure, cushions contact between the plastic sections and the leg and improves comfort during longer use.
The padding fills the space between the rigid shell and the limb, helping limit unwanted movement. It also creates a softer contact surface around the knee, shin and lower thigh.
EVA remains lightweight and does not add unnecessary bulk. Correct positioning still depends on the child’s proportions and adjustment of the elastic straps.
Removable internal padding
The internal padding can be removed from the guards. This makes cleaning after dusty, muddy or warm-weather riding easier and allows its condition to be checked regularly.
Every component must be completely dry before reassembly. The padding must be returned to its original position and checked to make sure it is not folded or incorrectly oriented.
Removing the padding also provides access for inspecting the plastic construction, joints and fastening points. Damaged or permanently deformed components must not continue to be used.
Comfortable hypoallergenic fabric
The internal padding is covered with soft fabric designed for comfortable contact with the leg. Its hypoallergenic construction is suitable for regular training and racing use.
The fabric helps reduce friction between the protector, skin and clothing. Depending on the rider’s equipment, the guards can be worn over a thin functional layer or underneath motocross trousers.
Hypoallergenic materials cannot exclude every individual sensitivity. If irritation occurs, stop using the guards and check their cleanliness, size and fitting.
Ventilation while riding
The shape of the protective sections supports airflow around the knee and shin. Ventilation helps reduce heat accumulation underneath the rigid plastic segments during physically demanding riding.
Breathable internal fabric supports moisture management at the contact points. The construction cannot prevent perspiration, but it contributes to comfort during longer sessions and warmer conditions.
After every use, allow the guards to dry naturally. They should not remain sealed inside a damp equipment bag.
Adjustable elastic straps
Elastic retaining straps allow the fit to be adapted to the young rider’s leg circumference. Their flexibility responds to changes in muscle shape when the knee bends and the leg is loaded.
The straps should hold the guards securely without restricting circulation, causing numbness or creating painful pressure. Loose adjustment may allow the guards to move, while excessive tightening reduces comfort and mobility.
Before riding, check that the straps are not twisted and sit evenly around the leg. Their adjustment should be checked again during the first rides, as movement and warmth may affect the initial setting.
Stability during movement
The pre-shaped construction, internal padding and adjustable straps work together to keep the guards correctly positioned. The knee section should remain over the kneecap, while the long lower segment follows the front of the shin.
Before the first ride, the child should perform several squats, walk and adopt the normal riding position. The guards should not rotate significantly around the leg, slide down or interfere with the upper edge of the motocross boots.
Final fitting should be checked together with the trousers and boots that will actually be used.
One junior size
The model is supplied in one adjustable junior size. Elastic straps provide a degree of circumference adjustment, but a universal size does not guarantee a correct fit for every child regardless of height and proportions.
When selecting the guards, check:
the position of the knee protector,
the length of the shin section relative to the boot,
the pivot position in relation to the knee,
sufficient strap-adjustment range,
stability during flexion and extension,
unrestricted circulation and comfort.
Where the construction is too long, the pivots do not align with the knee or the straps cannot be adjusted correctly, the model is not suitable for the rider.
EN 1621-1:2012 Level 1 certification
The guards comply with EN 1621-1:2012 for motorcycle limb-joint impact protectors. Available product information lists Level 1 protection.
Certification confirms that the product has passed the relevant laboratory impact-transmission tests. Performance depends on correct use, suitable positioning and the protector remaining undamaged.
The rating applies to the protective area and construction specified by the manufacturer. It does not represent complete protection of the leg or a guarantee against every injury.
Recommended use
The Acerbis Impact Evo Junior are particularly suitable for:
junior motocross,
junior enduro,
pit-bike riding,
children’s ATV riding,
recreational off-road training,
other junior off-road disciplines.
The guards are designed for all-season use and can be combined with a thin functional layer and suitable motocross trousers according to the conditions.
Pre-ride inspection
Before every use, inspect:
plastic panels for cracks,
movement of both pivot mechanisms,
pivot pins and connecting components,
elasticity and attachment of the straps,
condition and position of the internal padding,
permanent deformation,
correct identification of the right and left protector.
Following a significant fall, inspect the guards even where no obvious damage is immediately visible. Cracked, deformed or incomplete protectors must not continue to be used.
Care
Clean the removable padding according to the instructions on the product label. Plastic sections can generally be wiped using a soft damp cloth without aggressive chemicals.
Do not expose the guards to solvents, high temperatures or direct heat sources. Every component must be completely dry before storage.
Keep the pivot mechanisms free from mud, sand and other contamination that could restrict their movement.
