Close-fitting body armour for motocross and enduro
The Acerbis Density Body Armour is a lightweight and flexible upper-body protector designed for motocross, enduro and other off-road riding. Soft viscoelastic inserts protect the chest, back, shoulders and elbows, adapting to the rider’s anatomy without creating the bulk associated with extensive rigid plastic armour.
Its specially knitted, highly breathable polyamide construction combines the close fit of a functional base layer with certified protective components. Stretch fabric, ventilation zones and anatomically shaped inserts support freedom of movement when controlling the handlebars, leaning forward or switching between seated and standing riding positions.

Chest, back, shoulder and elbow protection
The Acerbis Density protects the main vulnerable areas of the upper body in one connected garment. Protective inserts are positioned over the chest, back, shoulders and elbows, removing the need to fit and adjust several individual protectors.
The close-fitting textile construction helps keep the inserts near the protected areas during active movement. Selecting the correct size reduces unwanted movement when bending the elbows, rotating the torso or transferring body weight on the motorcycle.
All four protected areas provide certified Level 1 impact protection.
Soft viscoelastic protectors
The chest, back, shoulders and elbows are covered by inserts made from a soft viscoelastic material. It remains flexible during normal movement and follows the shape of the body more closely than conventional rigid plastic panels.
During an impact, the material helps absorb and distribute part of the transmitted energy. Its flexible construction also reduces resistance when bending the arms, moving the shoulders and leaning over the handlebars.
Each protector is anatomically shaped for its corresponding area, providing coverage without unnecessary bulk around the joints and torso.
Flexible knitted fabric
The base garment is made from stretch polyamide yarn with added elastane. The material adapts to the rider’s body and moves together with it, helping stabilise the protective inserts without numerous separate straps and buckles.
The construction combines areas with different levels of elasticity, ventilation and compression. More closely knitted zones help keep the garment positioned, while flexible sections allow natural arm and torso movement.
The protector should fit closely without restricting breathing or causing uncomfortable pressure. The chest and back inserts must cover their intended areas, while the shoulder and elbow protectors must remain over the corresponding joints.
Ventilation zones supporting heat release
The knitted structure includes zones designed to encourage airflow around the body. These areas help release excess heat and moisture during physically demanding riding.
Ventilation is particularly useful during longer motocross sessions, slow technical enduro and warm-weather riding. Heat can quickly build up underneath protective equipment in these conditions, even when the rider is travelling at relatively low speed.
The flexible knitted construction also reduces the amount of rigid material surrounding the torso. The Density therefore provides a different approach to ventilation than armour based on extensive plastic shells and thick padding.
Freedom of movement while riding
The soft protectors follow shoulder, elbow and torso movement. The rider can control the handlebars naturally, raise the elbows, rotate the upper body and change position on the motorcycle.
There are no rigid plastic connections between the chest, shoulders and arms. The individual sections can therefore move more independently and create less resistance during dynamic riding.
Its close-fitting profile is also suitable for use underneath a motocross jersey and other equipment layers. Before riding, check that outer clothing does not compress, displace or interfere with the correct position of the protectors.
SBS side zip
An SBS side zip makes the armour easier to put on. Positioning the closure away from the centre of the chest maintains a continuous front protective area and reduces pressure from the fastening across the middle of the body.
Once opened, the garment can be put on more comfortably and the individual inserts positioned correctly. After the zip is closed, the close-fitting material helps keep both the front and rear sections near the body.
Class C protective garment
The Acerbis Density complies with EN 17092-6:2020 for Class C motorcycle protective garments. This category applies to specialised garments primarily designed to carry certified impact protectors and keep them correctly positioned.
It is not a motorcycle jacket intended to provide standalone abrasion protection during a road slide. For road use, the body armour must therefore be combined with suitable outer motorcycle clothing.
The chest, back, shoulder and elbow impact protectors are separately certified under the relevant EN 1621 standards.
Certified Level 1 protection
The chest protector complies with EN 1621-3:2018, Level 1. The back protector is certified to EN 1621-2:2014, Level 1. The shoulder and elbow protectors comply with EN 1621-1:2012, Level 1.
These levels confirm that the individual inserts have passed specified laboratory impact-energy transmission tests. Effective protection also depends on selecting the correct size and keeping the inserts correctly positioned.
Further information about the standards and protection levels is available in the protector certification overview.
Selecting the correct size
The Acerbis Density is available in three combined sizes:
S/M: height 160–175 cm, torso circumference 88–100 cm,
L/XL: height 175–190 cm, torso circumference 100–112 cm,
XXL: height 190–200 cm, torso circumference 112–120 cm.
These measurements provide general guidance. The actual position of the protectors is equally important: the elbow and shoulder inserts must remain over the relevant joints, while the chest and back protectors should stay correctly positioned when leaning forward and controlling the handlebars.
A garment that is too loose may allow the protectors to move. A size that is too tight may restrict breathing and movement or prevent the inserts from sitting correctly against the body.
