Junior body armour for motocross and enduro
The Acerbis Plasma Kid is an upper-body protector designed for young riders approximately 7 to 12 years old. It covers the chest, back, shoulders and elbows, combining the coverage of complete body armour with a lightweight, flexible and well-ventilated construction suited to active off-road riding.
Soft multi-layer protectors adapt to the child’s body without unnecessarily restricting arm or torso movement. Open sides, perforated sleeves and ventilation openings help release excess heat during motocross, enduro, ATV riding and other off-road activities.

Chest, back, shoulder and elbow protection
The Plasma Kid provides integrated protection for the main vulnerable areas of the upper body. Chest and back inserts cover the torso, while individually shaped shoulder and elbow protectors extend coverage to the arms.
Its close-fitting construction helps keep the protective sections correctly positioned when riding seated, standing on the footpegs or moving away from the motorcycle. The child does not need to put on and adjust several separate protectors before every ride.
According to the current manufacturer specification, the chest, back, shoulder and elbow protectors all meet Level 1 requirements.
Impact-absorbing multi-layer construction
The soft torso protectors use two viscoelastic layers combined with a semi-rigid external biofoam layer. The materials have different levels of firmness and work together to help absorb and distribute impact energy.
The viscoelastic layers adapt to the rider’s body during normal use, while the semi-rigid external surface helps protect against direct contact with the motorcycle, stones and surrounding terrain. This provides protection without requiring large and excessively rigid plastic shells.
Low weight and flexibility are particularly important for children’s body armour, which should not place unnecessary strain on the shoulders or restrict the natural movement of a young rider.
Removable shoulder and elbow protectors
The shoulder and elbow protectors are positioned inside perforated stretch-fabric sleeves. The close-fitting material keeps them near the arms and reduces unwanted movement when bending the elbows, controlling the handlebars or riding through technical terrain.
The sleeves are connected to the chest and back sections using padded shoulder straps. This stabilises the protective components while leaving the sides largely free from continuous fabric.
The shoulder and elbow sections can be removed. This allows the protector to be adapted to the activity, simplifies care and makes it possible to use the product as lighter torso protection when appropriate.
Open sides supporting ventilation
Instead of a conventional full mesh jacket, the Plasma Kid uses an open-sided structure. Large textile panels are not positioned between the chest and back protectors, reducing the amount of fabric that could retain heat and moisture.
Air can circulate around the torso and arms, while perforations in the protective sections and sleeves provide additional ventilation. This supports comfort during longer training sessions and warm-weather riding.
Ventilation is also important during slow technical enduro riding, where the rider generates considerable body heat but receives less cooling airflow from speed.
Freedom of movement for young riders
Flexible sleeves and soft protective inserts move together with the body. The construction leaves room for elbow flexion, torso rotation, leaning over the handlebars and shifting body weight while riding.
There are no rigid plastic connections between the chest, shoulders and elbows. This reduces movement restriction compared with armour based on extensive hard panels.
When the correct size is selected, the Plasma Kid can be worn underneath or over a motocross jersey according to the equipment and the child’s preference.
Adjustable fit
Elastic side adjustments allow the circumference to be adapted to the young rider’s body. An elastic waist belt helps bring the chest and back sections closer to the torso and reduces unwanted movement while riding.
The fit can be adapted to body shape, clothing layers and the preferred level of tightness. The protector should fit closely and remain stable without restricting breathing or normal upper-body movement.
Before every ride, check that the chest insert covers the centre of the chest, the back protector follows the spinal area and the shoulder and elbow protectors remain positioned over the corresponding joints.
Neck-brace compatibility
The upper section is shaped for use with a suitable children’s neck protector.
The helmet, neck protector and body armour should be tried on together before riding. The individual components must not push against one another or restrict normal head rotation, forward movement or extension.
Two sizes for young riders
The Acerbis Plasma Kid is available in S/M and L/XL. The manufacturer describes it as suitable approximately for children aged 7 to 12, although age should only be treated as a general guide.
The selection should primarily be based on the child’s body measurements and the actual position of the protectors. Armour that is too large may move during a fall, while a product that is too small may restrict breathing and movement.
